Project Rationale

This project was created for the St. Lawrence College Musical Theatre program to promote their upcoming performance of Spring Awakening. The campaign included a promotional poster along with Instagram and postcard applications designed to maintain a cohesive visual identity across multiple formats.

The design focused on balancing themes of romance, youth, edginess, and the darker emotional tone of the performance through a custom illustration and dramatic colour transitions. The illustration I created features stylized mannequin dolls, a rose in the middle, and sharp purple flowers layered over a sunset gradient to represent both the bright and darker aspects of the story.

Typography played a major role in the project’s visual identity, using Warbler and PF Fuel for the title treatment to contrast elegance with boldness, while Avenir was selected for body copy to ensure readability and clean information hierarchy. This project focused on illustration, poster design, typography hierarchy, and creating a consistent multi-format promotional campaign.
